Areas of Practice - Tax, Estate Planning, Trusts & Charitable Giving

Elaine Reynolds was a founding principal of Legacy Tax and Trust Lawyers and is now Of Counsel. She practices in the areas of tax and estate planning. Having acquired a Masters of Law in U.S. Taxation and practiced law for five years in Los Angeles, a major part of her practice is devoted to U.S.-Canada transactions including cross border gift, estate and generation skipping tax issues. Elaine is a prolific author and has been published extensively including course materials for the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia (“CLE”), the Pacific Business and Law Institute, and Golden Gate University and articles for the Advocate, the Canadian Tax Journal, the Canadian Creditor/Debtor Review, the Lawyers Weekly and the CCH International News Letter.

She is a co-Editor of a publication by CLE entitled "Estate Planning and Wealth Preservation" and the co-author of the chapter on U.S./Canada Cross Border Estate Planning. Elaine has delivered many courses over her career including the Probate Course for PLTC and annual courses on tax and estate planning issues for CLE and for the British Columbia Institute of Chartered Accountants. In 2008 she was awarded the PEAK award for Knowledge and Leadership by the Association of Women in Finance. In 2013 she received the Leaders in Learning Award from CLE for her contribution to legal education and in the same year was designated Queens Counsel.
